Thurso – March 21st-24th 2017
We are pleased to invite you to the fourth conference dedicated to peatland research in the Flow Country. The theme of the conference is “Thinking Big” and as well as usual updates on projects and new research findings, we will have a special session on remote sensing and other approaches needed to measure processes and communities over large scales relevant to the Flow Country.

Optional – Fieldtrip from 7:30 to 17:00 (possible departure at 13:47 from Forsinard) @ RSPB Forsinard Flows
Student prizes: Two awards sponsored by SNH will be presented to outstanding student projects recognising the importance of scientific research and its communication in the development of the case for World Heritage Site status for the Flow Country.
– A tour of the new field centre & a walk to the view point
– A visit of restoration plots with enhanced management including brash crushing & furrow blocking

For those who won’t be driving, Thurso is connected to Inverness by train and coach (Stagecoach or Citylink). For people attending the field trip on the Friday and travelling with the train, we strongly recommend booking the return ticket from Forsinard either at 13:47 (half day field trip) or 17:11 (full day field trip).
A great variety of hotels and Beds and Breakfasts is offered in and around Thurso, most of which are within walking distance to the conference venue, the town centre and the train station.
