Transport
Flights
The nearest airport is Wick John O’Groats, which is 32km from Thurso. If travelling to Wick we can arrange pickup and transport.
Wick airport has connections to Aberdeen and Edinburgh (Eastern Airways and Flybe respectively). There tends to be one flight a day to and from Edinburgh (except Saturdays) and two flights a day each way to Aberdeen.
An alternative airport is Inverness airport, which is 175 km from Thurso.

If flying into Inverness you will need to take the train/bus or hire a car for the last leg or the journey to get to Thurso.
Train / bus
You can take the train or bus from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen (total time around 8 hours). These require changing at Inverness.
Travel from Inverness to Thurso can be made by Train (www.scotrail.co.uk; approx. 4 hour journey) or by bus (https://www.stagecoachbus.com; approx. 3.5 hours).
There is a sleeper train, travelling through the night from London (https://www.sleeper.scot/) arriving into Inverness at 08:38.
Hire Car
There are numerous options for hiring cars in Inverness. The travel time in a car from Inverness to Thurso is around 2.5 hours. Europcar will allow you to pick the car up in Inverness and leave the car in Wick if you fly into Inverness but want to fly out of Wick.
