The Environmental Research Institute has been recognised in the Scottish Governments new policy document: Arctic Connections: Scotland’s Arctic policy framework. The Arctic policy framework is a new prospectus for cooperation, knowledge-exchange and policy partnerships between Scotland and the Arctic.

The ERI has been credited as one of a number of Scottish research institutes which work in monitoring environmental change in the Arctic. Much of the ERIs Arctic work has been funded through the European Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme. Current ERI research in the Arctic is focused on marine plastic, oil spill response, and hydrogen production and utilisation.

The ERI has also been acknowledged for our role in informing the Arctic policy framework through a previous report developed along with Glasgow Caledonian University’s Centre for Climate Justice. The Scottish-Arctic Mapping Report was co-authored by ERI staff members Barbara Bremner and Magnus Davidson.
