Dr Neil James (ERI Research Fellow) has launched the new podcast series Under the Surface, which delves into advances in research and innovation being undertaken in the north. The first series, The Pollution Experience, focuses on issues and solutions surrounding marine plastics and oil pollution.

In each episode Dr James talks to a different guest to explore matters across a wide breadth of fields including avian research, circular economy, remote sensing, microplastics and citizen science to name just a few. The ERI’s Dr Lonneke Goddijn-Murphy, and ERI associate Dr Nina O’Hanlon are two of the guests on episodes released so far.

Under the Surface was initiated as part of the POPCORN project, and is funded by Interreg’s Northern Periphery and Arctic programme as part of the EU’s INTERREG programme. Find out more on our APP4Sea project page.
