What is GREBE ?
GREBE will focus on the challenges of peripheral and arctic regions as places for doing business and help develop renewable energy (RE) business opportunities provided by extreme conditions. It will support successful development of SMEs and start-ups in this sector through analysis of advanced RE options, expert business mentoring, transnational models of successful growth strategies, policy analysis and information on funding mechanisms for businesses and support agencies. The Environmental Research Institute in North Highland College UHI are the Scottish GREBE partner.
Challenges including a lack of critical mass, dispersed settlements, poor accessibility and vulnerability to climate change effects are well recognised. GREBE will equip SMEs and start-ups with the skills and confidence to overcome these challenges and use place based natural assets for RE to best sustainable effect.

Entrepreneur Enabler Scheme
Entrepreneurship enabler schemes have proven to be successful and effective promotional tools in supporting the development of new businesses.
Project GREBE is launching the Entrepreneur Enabler Scheme in Scotland. GREBE will work with small to medium renewable energy businesses throughout the Highlands and Islands Area to provide support to facilitate their growth through specialised mentoring.
The Entrepreneur Enabler Scheme will commission mentors with the appropriate expertise to be assigned to work with new businesses to address identified area(s) where help is needed, in order to deliver a bespoke support package. Participating businesses will be matched with an appropriate mentor to meet their business needs, based on areas of specialism and scoring.
